A big hello from Plas!
We have had a wonderful few days in Wales, enjoying the beautiful views and nature around us in the local area. All of the groups have had a brilliant couple of days doing split activities with their instructors: Dan/Geoff, Lucy, Mel and Kev.
One of the activity that we have done this week so far was gorge walking. This has been one of the most popular activities with the children this year. We learnt lots of climbing skills and really liked walking and climbing through the water of the gorge. We even practised climbing with rope, which was even more challenging! We learnt lots of scrambling skills, which we used in other activities throughout the week and came in very useful when abseiling and climbing.
Another activity we have enjoyed this week has been canoeing! We started off by playing lots of team building games and practising paddling skills. Once we had mastered this, we made our way onto the wide part of the lakes, where we put our skills to the test! Also, we had great time at the end of the session having a paddle and splash in the water!
On our beach session, we have enjoyed exploring the local beach and all it had to offer! We learnt lots about costal geography and enjoyed finding lots of exciting things on the sand and in some of the shallow parts of the water near to the edge of the beach. Using our climbing skills again, we played 'King of The Castle' on Matrix rock, where we were challenged to climb accurately and at speed.
Our final session of the split activities was abseiling and climbing. Lots of us were really pushed out of our comfort zones with this but were able to put all our climbing and scrambling skills to good use. We learnt lots about climbing safety such as correct knots to use when securing a rope. We were all successful at making our way down the walls and became much quicker and efficient at climbing using the iron trail to support us.
Throughout the week, we have really loved taking part in our evening activities and have had some brilliant meals that we have all enjoyed!
Tomorrow, we are all very excited for our 'mountain walk day', where all of us will travel to different areas of the local area and will explore the trails up one of the nearby mountains.
We are all looking forward to our day of adventure for our final full day at Plas!
