This week, we have had an exciting because we have had a visit the paramedics from West Midlands Air Ambulance. Also, HSBC have officially opened our school bank accounts, which are for the students to learn how to save and build our life skills.
West Midlands Air Ambulance
On Thursday 23rd January, we learnt how to perform CPR on a person. We were told how to recognise if they needed help. For example, they may not be breathing and may need assistance. The first step was to gently shake the person's shoulders and place our cheek close to their mouth. This would allow us to find out if they were breathing or not. If they were not breathing, we had to start evenly timed chest compressions. This made sure that the heart continued to pump blood around the body via the circulatory system. Also, we used different type of bandages to dress the wound and clot the blood.
HSBC
Over the last few days, HSBC have been creating bank accounts for the junior pupils. Today, we officially opened the bank with HSBC staff, our pupil bank managers and our chair of governors, who cut the red ribbon at our opening ceremony. Now, we will be able to spend and save our money using the account. The HSBC bank will be open in school every other week for us to deposit money.
