This morning we woke up to sunshine which was marvellous! After morning routines and rewarding best beds, children enjoyed their breakfast which was cereal, toast and scrambled egg for those that wanted it or could have it. We had a quick run around and then started the morning activities.

Today, we split into groups to do apple pressing and fire lighting. Apple pressing involved children first going to Edgmond Hall's orchard to pick hundreds of juicy apples. Next, they washed and scrubbed the apples to make them nice and clean. We discussed the life cycle of a flowering plant and how this links to apple trees. Afterwards, children chopped and crushed the apples using a crushing machine and finally they put all the apple pieces into a presser before eventually juice started coming out of the bottom. Once sieved, they poured into bottles and designed our own labels to advertise our fresh, no added sugar, 100% apple juice. We got to taste test and it was delicious!

Children also had the chance to do fire lighting, using flint and steel as heat to combine with cotton wool as fuel and oxygen to turn a spark into a flame. While some struggled at first, everyone successfully made their own mini fire! Afterwards, children explored the forest to find fuel in form of dry, thin small sticks to them create their own larger fire in groups. This became a competition to see who's fore could stay alight the longest. If they could, children then toasted a marshmallow on their fire, for those that couldn't enjoyed a little snack while admiring their amazing work.

For dinner, we had a roast chicken dinner (vegetarian option instead of chicken for those that needed it) and after a short play we assembled for our final evening of activities.

Due to the wonderful weather, we have had today, the ground and wood was dry enough to have a campfire! Everyone got wrapped up warm and worked as a team collecting fuel and once the campfire was lit, we began campfire activities. These included telling stories, singing silly songs, and having snacks around the magnificent campfire. It was such a wonderful experience, and the children loved it.

To end such a wonderful day, the children showered, had supper (hot chocolate and a biscuit), and headed to bed for the last night's stay at Edgmond Hall.

While everyone is excited for tomorrow's final activities, reality also has hit that tomorrow we have to leave this beautiful place and head home.
