PSHE
Intent
At Grove Vale PSHE is a school subject through which we develop the knowledge, skills and attributes the children need to keep themselves healthy and safe, and prepared for life and work. Our well-delivered PSHE curriculum has an impact on both academic and non-academic outcomes for pupils. PSHE at Grove Vale gets children ready for a range of ‘first experiences’ that they are going to experience in their childhood and adolescence life.
Implementation
At Grove Vale we follow our own PSHE curriculum which caters for the needs of our children. Our curriculum is split in to three stands, relationships, health and well-being and living in the wider world. All statutory RHE objectives are covered. PSHE is delivered once a week to all children in a range of ways such as circle time discussions, work for displays or work in books. Although PSHE is taught as a discrete session, the children are constantly learning values which prepare them for life throughout all areas of the curriculum.
Impact
PSHE allows the children to develop the knowledge, skills and attributes they need to keep themselves healthy and safe, and prepared for life and work. PSHE teaches children how to deal with troubles they may face in life and how to deal with their feelings and emotions whilst remaining safe and secure. By understanding this it prepares them physically, emotionally, socially and mentally for their futures.
